Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei’s widow Judy Kipsoi has said that it is hard to come to terms with her husband’s death but she has left everything to God.

Speaking after viewing her husband’s body, Kipsoi wondered what she would tell her children when they asked about their father later in life.

"What will I tell my children when they grow up? Who will help me in raising them?

“It’s hard for me to believe he is dead but I leave it to God [sic],” she said.

Kenei was found dead at his Imara Daima home on February 19, 2020, and police are still investigating the case.

On Thursday, DCI boss George Kinoti ruled out suicide saying he was killed in cold blood.

Johne Chesang, Kenei’s father, lauded the DCI for making some of his findings public but said it would be important to also reveal the data retrieved from his son’s phone.

“We are happy that the DCI showed Kenyans what transpired in that office (DP’s office).

"(But) what we want to know are the contents of the data recovered from his phone. Let that data be made public the same way they revealed what happened at the DP’s office.

"We want the data made public because we believe it shall enhance investigations and perhaps [reveal] how the mission to eliminate him was planned."

Deputy President William Ruto on Friday called for speedy investigations into the murder of Kenei — who worked at his Harambee Annex office.

Ruto said the DCI should reveal Kenei’s killers and the motive, not leaving out the manner he was killed.

The DP also termed recent actions by media houses regarding the case as distortions that are aimed at tarnishing people’s reputations.
