Business owners incur losses as fire guts down trading center

A section of Chepseon business owners mark Madaraka day on a sad note after their businesses were razed.

Londiani Sub-County Commissioner Festus Munyao said the inferno at the trading center broke out at 6am.

"The fire consumed a timber constructed hotel and six other small-scale business enterprises," he said.

Munyao said fire fighters assisted by the Kericho county fire engine managed to put out the fire at around 7.30am.

The Sub-County Commissioner added that the cause of the fire could not be immediately established.

Over the years, the trading center has suffered stunted growth over suspected cases of arson attacks linked to land disputes.
