Congratulations to First Lady Margaret Kenyatta for being elected the vice-chairperson of the Organisation of Africa First Ladies against HIV/Aids (OAFLA). The organisation focuses on the health of women and children living with HIV, and child mortality.

The First Lady has been on the forefront working tirelessly to promote maternal, new born and child health in the country as well as spearheading efforts to address HIV prevalence by creating awareness.

So far, the First Lady’s Beyond Zero Campaign has donated 47 fully kitted mobile clinics to 47 county governments to strengthen existing outreach programmes and referral systems. This has greatly helped in remote areas where medical services are not easily accessed.

The OAFLA creates a spirit of solidarity and enhances exchange of ideas among the First Ladies. This in turn increases their capacity and that of other women leaders in advocating for better solutions toward eradicating stigma and discrimination of those infected and affected by HIV and Aids.
