THE LONG WAIT: Here’s the latest on Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United

Manchester United fans will be thrilled to see Alexis Sanchez being unveiled at Old Trafford. But what's taking so long?

According to The Express, the Chile and Arsenal forward is set to become Man United’s highest paid player, earning a whopping 19 million euros a year.

Reports from other outlets suggest Sanchez has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils which will see him earn 505,000 euros a week before tax.

Sanchez almost joined Manchester City last season in-form with Raheem Sterling almost being sold to Arsene Wenger’s side.

However, the deal fell through, leaving Sanchez disappointed with the fact that he’ll have to play for Arsenal another season.

Now Sanchez is almost a Man United player and an excellent addition to Jose Mourinho’s attack.

Armenian player of the year Henrikh Mkhitaryan is said to be top on the list on Mourinho’s chopping board, with a move to Arsenal looming.

The stalled Mkhitaryan- Sanchez swap is said to be because of Mkhitaryan's resistance to leave Old Trafford and also wanting a pay rise if he joins Arsenal.

Mkhitaryan is said to have demanded 170,000 euros a week from Arsenal who look a long way from agreeing to his terms.

The Armenian’s agent, Mino Raiola was yesterday spotted in London, potentially negotiating the deal.

He told reporters Sanchez was part of Mkhitaryan’s deal and not the other way round.

“Man Utd are not going to sign Sánchez unless Mkhitaryan agrees to join Arsenal. Sánchez is part of the Mkhitaryan deal. Mkhi has not decided yet, he is going to do what is best for him. He has two-and-a-half years left on his contract,” said Raiola.

The 'Super Agent' was also involved in Paul Pogba’s and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s transfer to the Red Devils.

According to the papers, there are two reasons why the deal could be stalling. One is because Mkhitaryan is unwilling to join Arsenal as he also wants to be part of a title-winning side too. He also wants to be the Gunners’ highest paid player should he join them.

Another reason why the Mkhitaryan – Sanchez deal is delayed is because Raiola is still trying to siphon money from Arsenal, who are also standing their ground on the offer presented.
