Manchester United makeshift leftback and utility player Ashley Young is set to miss the club’s next three matches after he accepted FA’s charge on violent conduct.

Young has been in fine form for a defender this season, scoring 2 goals and assisting three times in 17 appearances.

He was issued with the charge after it looked like he deliberately elbowed Southampton winger Dusan Tadic in the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on 30th December 2016.

Reports say though Young accepted the charge, he felt that the punishment was excessive.

“He accepted a violent conduct charge following an off-the-ball incident during yesterday's game against Southampton, but argued the suspension was excessive. This was rejected by a Regulatory Commission,” said a Football Association spokesperson.

He is now set to miss the Premier League clash with Everton today at Goodison Park, the FA Cup tie with Championship side Derby County and Stoke City.
