Why is a political suicide for Isaac Rutto to support CORD

Rift valley is a Jubilee Party stronghold where the Deputy President William Ruto still enjoys the kingpin status and as it is expected, it will overwhelmingly vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 polls.

Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, who was recently injured in a scuffle with the police, still enjoys support in South Rift since he is not in CORD.

If he declares his support for the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, it will severely affect his candidature.

The Kalenjin community is known to punish 'traitors' and a living example is Henry Kosgey ( currently Nandi county gubernatorial aspirant ) who backed Odinga in 2013 and subsequently lost in the polls.

Others who tried the same path and faced hostility in the region are Oscar Sudi and Alfred Keter who were supporting a KANU candidate during the Kericho senatorial by election.

Moreover, Jubilee already has a project in Deputy speaker of the national assembly Dr. Joyce Laboso who is drumming support for herself day and night to unseat him.

Therefore if the governor dares to support CORD,it will compromise his re-election in 2017.
