A student has been killed in cold blood in Maseno University over unclear circumstances.

Peter Njoroge, a third year student, who resides in Mabungo, is said to have met his sudden death at around 5.00pm.

In retaliation, students killed the alleged killer and set his house on fire.

According to a police officer who did not want to be identified for he is not supposed to address the media, the suspect who was identified as Joshua, was a well-known criminal claims which we could not verify.

Addressing students in the scene of the crime, Mr. Kweya Opande, the dean of students, has urged students to maintain calmness as investigations have been launched.

“I urge students to maintain calmness for this matter is already in police hands” opined Opande.

As if the students were not satisfied with the dean’s address, they protested and barricaded the busy Kisumu-Busia road bringing business to a standstill.

Police officers were prompted to hurl tear gas to disperse the rowdy students.

However, calmness has not yet been restored.

This comes in a span of two weeks after students lynched a suspected thief near Tsunami hostels.

Maseno University has been rocked by insecurity cases whereby students who reside outside school have been attacked frequently.
