Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Joyce Laboso has said Jubilee administration has no ready aspirants that have been handpicked for various elective seats for the next general elections.
The Sotik MP said rebel leaders in Jubilee who are currently claiming that there are leaders who have been selected to take nomination slots ahead of next elections were afraid and peddling lies with the aim of securing sympathy from electorate yet they had failed to deliver in positions they are now holding.
“It is wrong for some leaders to claim that Deputy President William Ruto had specific leaders for certain seats in various parts of the country who will vie in the Jubilee party.” She said.
She added that even during the recent visit by the DP to Bomet to launch various projects funded by the national government, the DP had said the region’s governor’s seat will go to Jubilee but did not mention any particular name for the seat.
Dr. Laboso noted that it was not right for leaders to tarnish the name of the DP for being confident AND that Jubilee will retain power after the next general elections and that the party will secure most elective seats.
“All I am aware is that there are so many candidates who would be looking for the governor’s seat but if others have already felt that I am up to the task that is good.” She said.
She enthused that she had credentials to secure and deliver on the gubernatorial seat and called on leaders who had failed to deliver to take responsibility, instead of using their time for criticizing the DP who was also working on his own leadership ambitions like any other leader in the country.
The MP, who was speaking during the official opening of Ndanai Boys secondary school in her constituency on Friday, was accompanied by some area MCAs who have declared loyalty to the Jubilee administration over the newly formed Mashinani Development Party fronted by area governor Isaac Ruto who is going to seek re-election through the outfit.
She called for respect among leaders and residents during the period towards elections.
“There is no need of hurling vulgar language against each other because the decision on the next choice of leaders was in the hands of the electorate,” she advised while noting that it was a high time the leaders of Bomet embraced consultative leadership for the sake of posterity and development in the area.
