What your dressing code says about you

It is not a new thing today seeing a young woman literally squeezed in a scant, super-tight dress and I care deeply of how they look especially unprepossessing and hurting their abdomen.

Now I think to myself, ‘why would a young woman want to dress that way? Why would she want to pull out that funky look? Why that choice? Why scant? Why tight? And why would I even care? Now here is why I do, it’s because this is a terrible kind of fashion. It is damnable, indecent, and just very wrong. People talk of ‘class’ very much. Not to forget ‘my dress my choice’ thing. I will say there is no class in this kind of appearance, and I say this is the light of morality and, also, of health.

It is worrying these days how students of tertiary institutions abuse their freedom on campus by dressing indecently and provocatively. The truth of the matter is that dressing and grooming have become sensitive issues in many tertiary institutions with the behavior and dressing of some students offending human sensibilities on the various campuses. All these are as the result of modernization, urbanization, communication and technology which has become the order of the day in this contemporary world.

There are a lot of people, both male and female just as guilty in this question of impropriety in dressing but right here I will talk about women, specifically campus ladies. I’m talking about them because they are the ones that cherish and experiment with fashion the most. Some modes of dressing do not only view our personality in bad light but are also a justification of the moral decadence that University students have been associated with.

But there are these funky outfits that they are dressing themselves in that allow for cleavage, that expose the thighs, that uncover the back, that emphasizes the curves, the hips and the folds of the bum. And I’m afraid that too many young women have fallen for this trick. They dress skimpily, in a manner that is remiss, even obscene. And what is the motive? To make heads turn?

In the campuses, I have seen teachers dress like they are going for a beauty contests; journalists dress like they are going for a drinking spree and entrepreneurs as if they were to attend wedding parties. What’s even more bothering is the image you bring out. The image, I won’t say it is bad, but it’s certainly not deserving of respect, of admiration, of praise, of God’s approval. When you choose to dress in an objectionable manner people look at you in a little bit different way .They don’t see you as a top person. They see you as something else ….and about that you can’t really help.

However, what we should know is that tertiary institutions provide fine opportunities to develop talents and skills of students and such conditions also present freedoms which can tempt students to engage in all manner of negative practices including drug addiction, gambling, prostitution, drunkenness and other social vices. And it is the duty of our parents to ensure that the youth adhere to principles of decency and modesty by avoiding wearing dresses that do not bring out the rich culture of our country. If you clad indecently you need to come to grips with that. Dressing well is a show of good manners.
