A primary school deputy headteacher has been arrested in Homa Bay County for allegedly defiling his pupil.
The teacher is said to have been defiling the girl who completed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam last week in the private school where he teaches.
He was allegedly found defiling the 15-year-old girl in his house in Kanyabala location, Homa Bay County.
The teacher has been staying in the school compound even after schools were closed for the long holiday.
But his 40th day came after a village elder busted them. The village elder had gone to the house in the company of health officials undertaking indoor residual spraying for killing mosquitoes to prevent the spread of malaria.
The teacher reportedly took advantage of staying alone in the school to commit the crime. The girl, who hails from the same village where the school is situated, is said to have been visiting his house for sex.
The village elder peeped through the house in the morning and saw them in bed.
With the help of the health officials, he got hold of them and informed the assistant chief who rushed to the scene and arrested the two.
They were taken to Rodi police station where the teacher was detained.
The girl was taken to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for medical tests. She was later taken to a children’s home.
Homa Bay Children’s Officer Joseph Otieno said the girl admitted that she had been in a sexual relationship with the teacher.
We have interrogated the girl and she said it was not their first time to have sex,” Otieno said.
