Some Nairobians are worried that there could be a breed of bed bugs that is hard to kill. And a pest control expert agrees, explaining that there has been a crossbreed of the bugsthat has invaded the city, thus making majority of Nairobians have been having sleepless nights.
“There has been crossbreeding that came with second-hand clothes in Nairobi, making available pesticides weak to combat the bugs,” said David Limo of Master Bedbug Controls.
The new breed, he said, was hard to eradicate with pesticides that were used before and requires a skilled expert.
“If you don’t have strong pesticides and the right experts, you will keep fumigating and the bugs will keep breeding until you give up,” he said.
The expert said the bedbugs were now all over Nairobi, including in posh estates. He said they were found in matatus and social places.
“Just one is enough to lay eggs in the house and they can’t be eradicated with hot water,” he said.
