President William Ruto is tomorrow expected to officially open the Engineering Partnerships Convention (EPC2023) organised by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) at a Naivasha hotel.
The 4th Engineering Partnership Convention (EPC) whose theme is "Transforming Kenya's Economy- Engineers Contribution to Development," is expected to attract 2000 delegates.
The President who will be the chief guest will unveil the Engineers Projects Registration portal that will help EBK monitor ongoing construction in the building industry to curb cases of collapse of buildings.
The portal will be used by engineers in the building industry to register their projects and keep updating the same as they go through the different processes from approval of design to construction.
"Engineers in the building industry will now be able to register their projects, update the design drawings and geotechnical reports, update approvals from the county and National Construction Authority, update the site progress report, print the EBK sticker, and close the project once it's done," read a statement from the board sent to the newsrooms.
The portal will help the EBK to keep track of all the building projects that are going on in the country and enable the engineers to be accountable for the projects that they are managing.
The portal will go live on July 1.
"The Convention will bring together the engineering fraternity for a meaningful dialogue in the industry and will have various sector players interrogate the engineering regulatory environment of the Engineering practice," read a statement from the board sent to the newsrooms.
The board said that the three-day convention will bring together policymakers, industry experts, academicians, researchers, trade-in services experts, and engineers to create dialogue, reflection, and partnerships that will strengthen Kenya's engineering education, training, and practice.
"It will provide a platform to showcase the critical role of engineers in the economic transformation. Under roads and transport, engineers create linkage that reduces trade barriers, improves market access, promotes economic activities across the country, and attracts both domestic and foreign investments," said the board.
EBK noted that the meeting will also be a platform for delegates to witness how problems solving innovations and solutions that can enhance the quality of life, development, and transformation of the country's physical infrastructure, technology, and systems.
