ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has assured Nyanza residents the government will serve all Kenyans indiscriminately, irrespective of how they voted.

Speaking during relief food distribution in Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay, the CS added that the Kenya Kwanza government will also facilitate equitable distribution of resources.

"During campaigns, we promised to revitalise the sugar industry, facilitate optimal exploitation of the fishing industry and revitalise Ahero Irrigation Scheme among others," said Owalo.

He added that they will also support value chain programmes in the agricultural sector across the four counties of Luo Nyanza to enable sustainable food security in the region.

The CS, who was accompanied by MPs David Ochieng (Ugenya) and Caroli Omondi (Suba South), further revealed that the Kenya Kwanza government will ensure there is an enabling policy framework that will facilitate distribution of resources commensurate with revenue emanating from mining.

President William Ruto's government will also facilitate the development of other infrastructure projects like roads, electricity and water across the Nyanza region.

On Friday, while distributing relief food in Nyatike, Migori County, Owalo asked leaders and the electorate to put politics aside and support the government in service delivery.

He said the move would help avert the food shortage that has been experienced in the region over the years. "We will work together with county governments for people to get help."

Speaking at Nyangore SDA church in Suba North Constituency, Owalo said the fish processing plants will revitalise the region economically.

"As part of the blueprint, the government will establish fish processing plants on the beaches of Lake Victoria. It is unfortunate that fish produced in Lake Victoria is processed elsewhere," said Owalo.

He said the government will also support aquaculture in the region to bridge the gap in demand for fish.

"Aquaculture is key for economic development we are going to prioritise it," said Owalo.

He said Ruto is going to start a mega housing project in Homa Bay County scheduled for commissioning later this month.

Other planned projects include the construction of a ring road along the shores of Lake Victoria, from Kisumu to Migori County.

"The road will open up this region for the promotion of blue economy," he said.

In his docket, the CS said they are planning for internet connectivity in villages, through schools and health facilities.

He also said they are putting plans in place to ensure mobile phones are produced in Kenya.

"We want Kenyans to purchase mobile phones at cheaper prices," Owalo said.
