Kenya Sevens forward Alvin ‘Buffa’ Otieno is the LG Sport’s Personality for the month of October.

Otieno beat rally driver Carl Tundo, Elisha Rotich who won the Paris Marathon in 2:04:18, Joyceline Jepkosgei who won the London Marathon in 2:17:43 and Ulinzi Warriors player Byron Mabonga to the award, after he recently helped Shujaa reclaim the Safari Sevens title they last won in 2016. He was named the MVP in the continental tournament that was held at Nyayo Stadium in October.

For winning the award, ‘Buffa’ as he is popularly known went home with a UHD LG 55-inch smart TV worth Shs 105,000.

“I am short of words, very happy about this award. It’s been good to me more so after recovering from injury and seeing my game improve through and through. The sky is the limit for now and I also urge all players to keep going and aim higher in sport,” Buffa, who was flanked by Kenya 7s head coach Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu and captain Nelson Oyoo, said yesterday after receiving the award.

Otieno, who is part of the Shujaa squad the departs for Dubai 7s tomorrow, has grown from strength to strength since winning the Singapore Sevens in 2016 on his World Sevens Series debut.

LG East Africa Business Manager Paul Mumo was quick to congratulate Otieno, who recently ditched Homeboyz for KCB.
