Last weekend the National Gun Owners Association (NGAO-Kenya) held their end year Practical Pistol Shooting tournament at the Kirigiti shooting Range.

The event dubbed “4 Gun shoot” was the last of the NGAO-Kenya planned events this year having missed out on the big Mashujaa day tournament as the sport had been put on hold during that period.

According to the National Gun Owners Association vice chair and certified training officer Eng. Sammy Onyango, the reason why range shooting had been put on hold in Kenya for some time was to inspect and re-check fire arm licenses.

NGAO-Kenya Chairman Anthony Wahome echoed similar sentiments saying “As a regulator the government felt the need to do it. We are happy that they are over and done with the exercise and the facilities are now open for use”.

Mr. Wahome stressed that shooting should be seen as a sport and not any other thing.

“As an association we emphasize on skill in shooting as a sport. I am proud to say that you will never see any members of the National Gun Owners Association being involved in cases of misuse of fire arms, we encourage responsible use of firearms and part of the responsibility comes with being proficient in the use of your weapon and horning your skills through shooting as a sport”.
