Being a man has its undeniable advantages. However, living in an era when nothing distinguishes men from women apart from the region below the belt, it appears that men are eventually losing out on all fronts.
Forget the din from feminists; the men’s goose was long cooked by whoever invented the business of alimony.
Today, women party as hard as any man and when it comes to amassing wealth, they do much better.
Why? When the money has been made by the man, it is our money. Her money, however, remains hers. In the event that the marriage does not go well, the woman can always count on alimony to survive. She is at liberty to enjoy good life on your sweat and also her latest boyfriend’s.
When did the rain start beating us?
Marie, a Swedish countess, is embroiled in the mother of all battles with her estranged husband, George David.
Marie Douglas-David claims she has a stake in David’s fortunes since she helped the former United Technologies Chairman build his empire. However, being a tough guy David, rubbishes these claims. According to the New York Post, not only did he say that Marie had nothing to do with building his fortune, but he even compared the conversations he had with his wife to a man talking to his dog.
David had taken precautions when marrying the 36-year-old drop-dead beauty 30 years his junior. He had envisaged that one day the girl might want to take a milking pail to him and take off with someone younger.
Pre-nuptial agreement
So he had a pre-nuptial agreement with the countess to limit her claims to a paltry Sh3 billion — excuse the language. David is reported to be worth an estimated Sh24 billion.
However, she claims Sh8 billion and a further Sh10 million as monthly upkeep. Compare this to Kenya’s top CEO who is rumoured to earn Sh3 million only!
Well, you could say she needs the money, after all she is unemployed. Pray what does the countess intend to do with a salary of three CEOs in Kenya?
