Kenyan social media sensation and content creator Azziad Nasenya has landed a women’s shaving campaign gig. BIC East Africa has named the social media influencer as its brand ambassador for women’s shaver BIC Miss Soleil, a disposable razor.
It features three blades, a lubricating strip enriched with Vitamin E, and a unique flower-designed handle for a seamless glide and a smooth shave. Michael Sinclair, General Manager at BIC East Africa, explains that the move was motivated by the organization’s commitment to empowering women.
Azziad will now be a part of the ‘I Choose Smooth, I Choose Miss Soleil’ campaign which was launched in Kenya last year. Sinclair said the ‘I Choose Smooth, I Choose Miss Soleil’ drive aims to motivate and inspire young women to embrace their confidence and be the best version of themselves.
Last year’s campaign featured four influential women representing and targeting different age groups. They included Wahu Kagwi, Avril Nyambura, Kamene Goro, and now Azziad. The selected women leveraged their social media platforms to tell their stories and share insights on what makes them confident.
They shed light on their experiences, challenges and opportunities that made them the brand they are today. The women also shared inspirational and motivational stories as well as beauty tips and recommendations meant for the young Kenyan woman.
“In its second year, the I Choose Smooth campaign is trying to support young women to move away from focusing on physical appearance, and rather embrace their true selves in their own way,” Sinclair said at the signing of the deal at the BIC East Africa headquarters in Kasarani.
He is optimistic working with Azziad will deliver their message and reach out to young Kenyan women across the country.
Sinclair continued: “We are excited to join hands with Azziad to encourage young women to prioritize themselves, and be confident.”
He praised Azziad, saying she has demonstrated resilience in creating her space and brand as a young Kenyan leader.
Sinclair added that the internet sensation is admired by many young Kenyan women, which makes her the best pick for the job. Accepting the opportunity, Azziad said she was excited at the honour to be BIC’s brand ambassador.
“I am honored to be part of an initiative that speaks to young women in Kenya and beyond. Being comfortable in your own skin means you need to take care of yourself, accept who you are, and be in control.
The 21-year-old, who is also a radio presenter, has worked with notable brands on her social media campaigns. In 2021, she was nominated for the E! People Choice Awards in the category of African Social Star, where she was a Runner Up. She has won several other awards.
