The Amani National Congress party (ANC) has unveiled a new secretary-general to fill the position left vacant following the resignation of Barrack Muluka in August last year.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi named lawyer Simon Kamau Gikuru as the new SG at the party headquarters in Lavington.
“ANC party has unveiled the youngest secretary-general for a political party in the country. We want to walk with the youth and ANC is going to become a party of the young people in Kenya. We are sending a strong signal that we are ready and want to incorporate the youth at all levels of leadership and government moving forward,” Mudavadi said.
Mr Gikuru thanked the party for picking him and promised to work closely with top officials and members to ensure that the party vision is realised. Gikuru has previously worked as a legal officer for the Alliance Party of Kenya elections board before being elected chairman of Jubilee Party in Murang’a County.
Present at the event were ANC national chairperson Kelvin Lunani, Lugari MP Ayub Savula, Vihiga Woman Rep Beatrice Adagala and Matungu MP Peter Nabulindo, among others.
