A top TV anchor married to an AFC Leopards star striker is facing criticism from a section of fans after she allegedly confronted a man, who has been critical of her husband’s performance in the field.

WAG Brenda Wanga of NTV, whose husband Allan Wanga plays for the team popularly known as ‘Ingwe’, was apparently so upset by past comments made by popular blogger Bernard Lugendo that she decided to make her feelings known after Leopards drew one-all with league leaders Thika United.

Brenda was reportedly in the company of another WAG, Nelly Tie Tie, the fiancé of Ingwe defender Eric Masika.

“After the game, I went for a drink with Dan Shikanda at the Poolside Bar in Nyayo Stadium. Brenda then came in the company of a number of people and started asking me why I have been writing sh*t about her husband. But I told her there was nothing personal as I only concentrate on writing about his performance on the field,” says Bernard.

He says although Brenda appeared irritated, she did not physically attack him. He, however, alleges that some of the people who had been attracted to the scene manhandled him.

The TV girl denies she was aggressive in her encounter with the blogger, saying it was merely “an act of courtesy” when she met for the first time a man “who has previously written lots of stuff about me and my family on Facebook”. She said she had never met Bernard in person, but was pointed out to him by her friends at the Poolside Bar.

“I went and talked to him because I have every right to talk to him. I did not do anything to him apart from asking him why he keeps on dragging my name on matters that do not concern me. But he immediately walked away,” she says.

Brenda said nothing else happened after Bernard walked away. But Ingwe fans on social media could have none of it, with some attacking the TV girl’s conduct and character. Fans of bitter rivals Gor Mahia, perhaps with tongue-in-cheek, also joined in the debate.

“I’m surprised that fans took the issue to social media and blew it out of proportion,” says Brenda, denying earlier claims that she poured a drink over the blogger.

Brenda sounded a warning to bloggers and rumour peddlers on social media that she would not be taking such matters lightly in future.

She said, “If you mention my name adversely on matters that do not concern me then be assured that I will have to ask you. I have an image to protect and it would be better if everyone remains factual.”

Allan, who has played professional football in Angola and Vietnam, has not been in tip-top shape this season, attracting criticism from a section of fans.
