Please tell us about your pet bed business. What is the motivation behind it?

Our pet bed business started from a deep love for animals and a desire to improve their quality of life. We noticed that many pet owners were struggling to find comfortable, durable, and stylish beds for their pets. Seeing the bond people have with their pets, we were motivated to create something special, a product that provides both comfort and aesthetic appeal. Our goal was to design beds that not only cater to the pets’ needs but also blend seamlessly with home decor.

Why would pets need beds?

Pets, like humans, need a comfortable place to rest and sleep.  A good pet bed provides a sense of security, supports joint health, and helps regulate body temperature. It is important for pets to have their own space where they can relax and unwind. Additionally, having a designated bed can help keep pets off furniture, reducing wear and tear in the home.

Who are your clients and how do you reach them?

Our clients are pet owners who view their pets as part of the family and want the best for them. They are people who prioritise their pets’ comfort and well-being. We reach our clients through a combination of online marketing, social media platforms, and word-of-mouth referrals.

How much do these beds cost?

Our pet beds range in price depending on the size, materials, and design. Generally, they start from Sh2500 for smaller beds to Sh6500 or more for larger, premium models. We strive to offer a range of options to suit different budgets without compromising on quality.

How is the market reception and demand so far?

The market reception has been very positive, with many customers appreciating the quality and design of our beds. Demand has been steadily growing as more people discover our products, and we have seen a lot of repeat customers, which is a testament to the satisfaction our beds bring to pets and their owners.

How has your business journey been since you started this pet bed project?

The journey has been both challenging and rewarding. We started small, with just a few designs, and have since expanded our range based on customer feedback. There have been learning curves, especially in managing production and supply chains, but the positive response from our clients keeps us motivated. We have grown steadily, and it has been incredible seeing how far we have come from our initial idea.

What are your plans to expand this?

We have plans to expand our product line to include more eco-friendly and sustainable options. Additionally, we are exploring partnerships with major pet retailers and online marketplaces to increase our distribution.

We are also looking into creating custom pet bed options, allowing customers to design beds that are perfectly suited to their pets’ needs and their home decor.

Your parting shot?

Taking care of our pets is about more than just feeding them and giving them a roof over their heads. It is about ensuring they have a comfortable and loving environment where they can thrive.

We are passionate about making high-quality pet beds that contribute to the well-being of pets and bring joy to their owners. To all pet owners out there, remember that a happy pet makes for a happy home.
