Dala Sevens silver medalists Menengai Oilers, Strathmore University Leos, and defending champions KCB, made a strong statement at the Kabeberi Sevens, securing their places in the quarterfinals after a dominant day one at the RFUEA Grounds.

Menengai Oilers, a team in fine form, secured their quarterfinal berth in style. They recorded the highest scoreline of the day with a 43-0 thrashing of the Stallions, followed by a 43-7 victory over Kisumu.

The Oilers' attacking prowess and fluid gameplay make them a formidable opponent heading into the knockout stages as they boast of Olympians Dennis Abukuse and John Okoth alongside Kenya Simbas hard-hitting Beldad Ogeta.

Strathmore University Leos, meanwhile, delivered one of the day's standout performances by stunning Kabras Sugar, the reigning Dala Sevens and Christie Sevens champions, with a thrilling 22-17 victory.

The Leos, known for their fast-paced and strategic play, proved they are a force to be reckoned with as they dismantled Kabras Sugar's defense with clinical execution and composure under pressure.

They further cemented their credentials with a 24-0 triumph over Nakuru, ensuring their passage to the quarterfinals.

Defending champions KCB RFC also made their presence felt, asserting their dominance with a comprehensive 39-0 demolition of Mount Kenya University. The Bankers followed this up with a solid 25-9 win over Mwamba, demonstrating their intent to retain the title.

KCB's consistency and depth have been key to their success, and they will undoubtedly be the team to beat as the tournament progresses.

As the Kabeberi Sevens heads into the quarterfinals, the competition intensifies, with all eyes on MMUST, Strathmore Leos, KCB, and Menengai Oilers.
