A 13-year-old boy has been reported missing after a landslide and floods displaced three families in Baringo on Tuesday.

Baringo County Commissioner Stephen Kutwa said the affected areas are Salabani, Sacho, and Saimo ward.

"Three homes in Saimo, Baringo North were swept away, and a 13-year-old boy is missing," said Kutwa.

The administrator regretted that the teen could not be accounted for after their house was flattened by a landslide.

"We are yet to establish the whereabouts of the teenager, her mother was rescued, and within the same village two other houses were affected but the occupants are safe," he said.

The County Commissioner said that the search and rescue mission commenced Wednesday morning and they are hopeful that the boy would be found alive.

Kutwa noted that the Kabarnet -Tenges Road was cut off on Tuesday evening.

"A landslide occurred yesterday along Sigowo, Tenges road, no casualty reported, the locals have tried to clear the road but in vain due to tree which had felt interfering with the process," he said

In Salabani, he said that families displaced by floods have been moved to safer grounds.

On Monday last week, transport along Sacho-Tenges connecting Eldama Ravine, Baringo Central, Mogotio, and Baringo South sub-counties was paralysed following a landslide in the area.
