Police in Naivasha are investigating the brutal murder of a senior manager of a supermarket in his house, hours after leaving work.

According to neighbours, the victim who was living alone entered the house around 10 pm before he was attacked.

One of the neighbours who declined to be named said that it was not clear if the thugs broke in or waylaid the manager on his way home.

“There was commotion around midnight and no one thought that the man was under attack until in the morning when he failed to report to duty only for the badly severed body to be recovered,” said the neighbour.

Naivasha sub-county police commander Stephen Kirui said they are holding the watchman and had collected CCTV footage as part of investigations.

He said that the motive behind the attack was still unclear though some household goods and personal effects were missing from the house.

“We had an incident on Tuesday night where a manager with one of the supermarkets was brutally murdered and we are holding one guard as part of our investigations,” he said.

Meanwhile, transport along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu Road was paralysed for over three hours after a tree fell on a section of the road completely blocking it.
