Police Intercept 50 bags of bhang

Police officers in Nanyuki intercepted a vehicle transporting a consignment of bhang.

Acting on a tip-off from the public, the officers managed to apprehend two suspects and seized the bhang on Friday night.

Laikipia County police commander John Nyoike, said at 11:45pm on January 5, the police officers intercepted a black Toyota Fielder, licence number KCZ 858R.

"Upon search, we found the vehicle to be carrying 50 bags of a suspicious green substance, believed to be a narcotics substance," he said.

Nyoike said that the consignment was traced to Tanzania and was destined to Meru town.

"The two individuals apprehended during the operation are currently in custody at the Nanyuki Police Station, awaiting arraignment in court on Monday," he said.

He issued a stern warning to individuals involved in the illicit drug trade.
