A number of motorcycles and property of unknown value were damaged in Homa Bay town when two groups of youth clashed on Thursday evening.
The youth clashed at Garage Road, hurling stones at each other, after one group attempted to block the other from accessing Governor Gladys Wanga who was holding a meeting with mechanics at Garage Road.
Wanga met with the mechanics to discuss how she will fulfill her campaign pledges, which included improvement of sanitation in the garage and creating enough space for the mechanics to operate in.
Police intervened to end the confrontation, even as Civil Society leaders condemned the violence. Homa Bay Bunge La Wenye Nchi Head Walter Opiyo told residents to restrain from violence.
