Kenya and Haiti will celebrate their growing diplomatic relations with the Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival on Saturday, August 24.

The event, organised by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and the Africa4Haiti Initiative, aims to reinforce cultural ties between the two countries.

"The Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival will be more than just a celebration; it is a demonstration of our solidarity with the people of Haiti and our commitment to their progress and prosperity," said Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei during a press conference in Nairobi on Wednesday, August 7.

The two nations established diplomatic ties in September 2023 following Kenya’s role in the multinational security support mission in Haiti. "Kenya’s dedication to the MSS mission reflects our commitment to global peace and stability," noted Sing’Oei.

Edward Muito, Chief Information Officer of Africa4Haiti, said, "Haiti was the first country in the Americas to abolish slavery and the first Black republic to gain independence in 1804. This shared legacy drives our commitment to supporting Haiti in its current challenges."

The Africa4Haiti Initiative is a Pan-African movement that addresses Haiti’s challenges through humanitarian aid, cultural exchange and sustainable development.

The festival will feature musical performances by artists from Haiti and Africa, cultural exhibitions, panel discussions, workshops, and the launch of the A4H Podcast.

It will also include the theatrical play "Arise," depicting the Haitian people's resilience.
