Three police officers have been arrested in connection with the death of a senior police officer, Felix Kelian.

The officers, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich Cherono and Agnes Kerubo Mugo, were arrested on Saturday, March 23, according to a police report.

The three are accused of assaulting Kelian, an inspector, following a non-injury traffic accident within Kikuyu market on March 16, 2024.

They are currently held at Kikuyu Police Station, with police considering pressing murder charges against them.

According to a police report, Kelian died on Friday, March 22,  while undergoing treatment at Nairobi West Hospital for abdominal pains and other injuries sustained after the alleged assault.

His body has since been transferred to Umash Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.

At the same time, unconfirmed reports also suggest a popular DJ has also been arrested in connection with the assault.

The DJ, who was present during the incident, is also accused of taking part in the assault. He is being held at Kabete Police Station as police launch investigations into the matter.

Police are also pursuing more suspects, including a woman who was reportedly present at the scene and boda boda riders.
