Jacque Maribe not appointed to Public Service Ministry, says Commission

Former TV journalist Jacque Maribe has not been appointed as the Head of Communication in the Public Service Ministry.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) in a circular dated Thursday, March 14, clarified that no such appointment had been made, following widely circulated reports earlier in the week.

"PSC Chairperson Amb.Anthony Muchiri clarified that no such appointment has been made, neither has a request to employ her been received by the board," said PSC.

Instead, the position will be filled through a competitive process, should a vacancy arise, the Commission said.

Maribe had confirmed to The Standard on Sunday, March 10, that she was serving in the Ministry.

Addittionally, Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi had congratulated her for landing the role.

"Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve. Thank you CS Moses Kuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand," Itumbi wrote.

Maribe's appointment elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans who wondered whether she had acquired a certificate of good conduct following her acquittal in February in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

During the hearing, Justice Grace Nzioka had mentioned that Maribe was not properly charged before the court, saying she was liable and guilty of issuing false information to the police regarding the murder probe.
