State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed has told off President William Ruto’s critics over his Christmas gifts to people who visited his Sugoi home.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Mohamed said President Ruto embodies the spirit of giving, particularly during the festive season.

“He has always celebrated and shared with his neighbors including children from children's homes who were guests at Eldoret State Lodge,” he tweeted.

Videos posted by Kenyans and photos shared by the Presidential Press team showed hundreds of people queuing while others were seated at his home where he (Ruto) can be seen addressing them.

He was with his wife Racheal Ruto, Governors Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu) and Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi) and several MPs and MCA’s.

“It’s a longstanding tradition he established and has been practicing for over 20 years, and he is not about to stop!,” added Mohamed.

Some Kenyans on X, took an issue with the Christmas giveaways calling it a mockery since the Kenya Kwanza administration has not done anything to make the lives of Kenyans easy.

They took an issue with the punitive taxes that have been introduced by President Ruto’s government which some said had only made Kenyans poorer.

“Hii ni ufala tu. You trapping people in poverty and acting Jesus. Conmanship,” tweeted X user @Jeyo_4.

Another X user @Eve_odhis tweeted “It’s not something to brag about considering the gifts are from our taxes. Don’t carry us for fools Mr. President.”

@DirectorNdonga tweeted “It was so easy to do an mpesa for them but humiliating and torturing then to acknowledge the giver was a must. Is that bag worth queuing for hours?”
