State development projects to be tracked digitally

The government plans to track development projects through a digital system to ensure credibility, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has said. 

The government has launched a digital system that will evaluate and track the implementation progress and performance of national government development projects. 

National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) will use the digital monitoring tools dubbed “project BETA” to track the implementation of projects in their respective areas. 

“The purpose of Project BETA is to capacitate our officers to supervise better, coordinate and oversee effective implementation of National Government policies, programmes, and projects with an emphasis on the lowest administrative unit being the Sub-Location cascaded upwards to the Region level,” said PS Omollo.

The PS added that the projects will be uploaded and tracked in real-time with the information made available at a one-stop dashboard.

The digital system is also Artificial Intelligence enabled and can evaluate delayed projects and give feedback on the progress of challenges. 

“NGAOs being the government’s first point of contact with the grassroots, will play a pivotal role in transforming and maximizing the impact of this targeted investment.” 

Some of the projects to be tracked include houses built under the Affordable Housing Scheme, farmers registered for the distribution of subsidized fertilizer, trees grown under the 15 billion tree campaign, and the Inua Jamii cash beneficiaries among others.
