SCHOOLS: Musingu School and Butere Girls crowned Kakamega County football champions

Musingu School and Butere Girls High School are the 2024 Kakamega County Secondary School football champions.
Musingu successfully defended their county gong after thrashing Munyuki Boys 3-1 in an entertaining final match staged at Mumias Sports Complex in Mumias, Kakamega County.
Valentin Isalambo gave the Scorpions a first half lead before Harrison Amalema sealed the win with a second half brace.
Musingu will now proceed to the Western Region finals alongside Munyuki since Kakamega County hosts the defending regional champions.
Munyuki had grabbed the headlines earlier after knocking out Western Region defending champions Friends School Shanderema 3-0 on penalties in the semifinals.

On the other hand, Musingu saw off Lugusi 4-1 on post-match spot kicks after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Western Region will now have a new football champion after the ouster of Shanderema.
Shanderema defeated Lugusi 2-1 to finish third in the third-place playoffs.
Meanwhile, Butere Girls dethroned Arch Bishop Njenga to win the Kakamega County football girls title.
Patience Atieno netted a brace as the national champions booked a ticket to the regionals.
Butere Girls hammered Musoli 8-0 in the semis to book a date with Arch Bishop Njenga, who won knocked out Mwitoti 5-0.
Musoli won 2-0 against Mwitoti to finish third.
