Rainfall is expected to continue in several parts of the country this weekend, the Kenya Meteorological Department says.

In a weekly weather forecast for January 12 to 18, the weatherman has predicted heavy rains in parts of Nairobi with isolated storms.

"Expect rainfall in the Western, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Central Highlands including Nairobi, Southeastern and South Coast. Isiolo and Samburu may experience precipitation from Friday to Monday," the MET department said.

The rains are likely to be accompanied by storms in parts of Rift Valley, Nairobi County, South Rift Valley, and South-Eastern lowlands.

In last week's forecast, the weatherman had predicted continued rainfall in the southern half of the country as North-Eastern and North-Western Kenya were to remain generally dry.

The forecast comes amidst ongoing rainfall in the Nairobi metropolitan area and several parts of the country.
