Ruiru-based traffic cop dies in a hit and run incident

A traffic police officer has died in a hit-and-run incident in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The body has been moved to the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue pending autopsy as investigations are ongoing.

A police report seen by The Standard states that the officer was on night patrol along Ruiru-Kiambu Road when the incident happened Monday night.

The deceased officer, James Mulei, was attached to Ruiru Police Station.

At the time of the incident, he was crossing the road alongside his colleagues when he was hit by an unknown car that quickly sped off.

As a result, he sustained a fatal head injury and several leg fractures.

Je was rushed to Plainview Hospital where he was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.
