Kiambu 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations were held in various sub counties and led by Assistant County Commissioners.

In Ndeiya Sub County in Kiambu, the celebrations were led by James Wambua the Assistant County Commissioner.

The issues of insecurity in the Ndeiya took center stage with Wambua warning thieves that the government is after them and will nail them in no time.

He noted with concern about the theft of electricity transformers which had increased in the recent past.

"I know this area is hard hit by transformer theft, even as the government works to break the cartel that is stealing transformers, I call upon the public to be on the lookout and report any suspicious characters, if the electricity goes off at night let us be cautious and get out to see what is happening so that if its thieves we can easily report for action," Wambua said.

Wambua added that guarding critical infrastructures should be a collective responsibility as the said infrastructure helps the general public.

"The chiefs should have a small sub-county to check on this growing menace of transformer theft," Wambua said

Following the growing trend where hundreds of donkeys are stolen and slaughtered in the Ndeiya area the Wambua again put the criminals on notice and promised to cut the criminal enterprise soonest.

Ndeiya has consistently been on the news for this crime where hundreds of donkeys are stolen in various places in the country and slaughtered here in an unhygienic manner putting the public in danger.

Wambua put the growing donkey slaughtering in Ndeiya on notice saying that the government is hunting down the cartel down county.

On education, the Assistant Commissioner said that the government directive on 100 per cent transition to high school must be adhered to and there will be no excuse by anyone.

"Am calling upon all chief to follow and make sure that every child who has sat for KCPE will go to form one," Wambua said
