Britam scoops Life Insurance Company of the Year Award at 2023 AKI Awards

Britam’s Head of Financial Advisors Network Joseph Waithaka, Group Managing Director Tom Gitogo, and Britam Life General Manager Business Development Dennis Mworia celebrate winning the Life Company of the Year Award 2023 for the 17th consecutive year at the Annual Association of Kenya Insurers Awards 2023. Britam also clinched the 1st runners-up spot for the General Insurance Company of the Year award, the Most Improved Company in Group Life award, and their FA Ruth Mumbe secured three individual accolades, including the prestigious Life Member award, Agent of the Year Award, and 1st runner-up in Number of Policies Sold award.

Britam Life Assurance Company has won the Life Insurance Company of the Year Award at the 2023 Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) annual awards for the 17th consecutive year as well as Agent of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

The AKI awards celebrate excellent performance by insurance companies and insurance financial advisors/agents. The awards go to the company with the highest number of qualified agents and the highest aggregate points in all the Life and General Insurance categories. The Life Assurance company also garnered the Most Improved Company in Group Life award and 2nd Runner-up in the Innovation Award. At the same time, Britam General Insurance Company received the 1st runners-up spot for the General Insurance Company of the Year award.

A total of 250 financial advisors under Britam Life Assurance and 95 financial advisors under Britam General Insurance met the qualifying criteria to participate in the AKI awards. Among them, Ruth Mumbe Nyingi scooped four individual awards including the Agent of the Year for the second year running, the AKI Lifetime Award, and secured the 1st runner-up position in the highest number of policies award.

Additionally, Britam’s Florence Wairagu clinched the Premium Volume Award for Domestic Insurance, while Gladys Hope Mumbi emerged victorious in the Overall Premium Volume Award for New Business at the awards ceremony. 19 agents out of the top 50 for Individual Agents Persistency Award while 6 out of the Top 10 in the Persistency category were from Britam, with Britam scooping 1st and second runners up in the same persistency category

Speaking on the remarkable achievement, Britam's Group Managing Director and CEO, Tom Gitogo, attributed the company's success to its five-year customer-centric strategic plan. Gitogo emphasized Britam's commitment to enhancing customer value and experience, expanding its customer base, and improving efficiencies to drive better returns.
