Impeached Kisii Deputy Governor Dr Robert Monda has moved to the High Court seeking to overturn his ouster.

Dr Monda has filed a case at the Kisii High Court on a certificate of urgency against the Senate, the Speaker of Senate and two others.

Kisii High Court Judge Justice Teresa Odera  on Tuesday issued a ruling on the application dated March 18, 2024.

The judge ruled that she had carefully considered the application and allied the same be served.

An interparty hearing had been set for March 26, 2024.

Monda filed the application five days after he was impeached by the Senate on accusations of abuse of office, violation of the Constitution and bribery.

The county is likely to remain without a substantive Deputy Governor until the IEBC is constituted.

The commission is legally mandated to issue the nominee with a certificate.

This is also happening as supporters begin lobbying for their preferred candidates.

The Governor and the ODM party will be faced with a challenge of picking a possible candidate based on clan matrix which is deeply rooted in Kisii.
