Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Lodwar have seized 16 rolls of bhang valued at approximately Sh50,000 and 16 National Youth Service (NYS) uniforms.
According to the investigators, the consignment was awaiting transportation to Turkana South and Kitale.
Turkana County Commissioner Julius Kavita said the banned substance and the NYS uniforms were recovered following a tip-off from personnel at Turkrift transport company, who noticed suspicious packaging among goods scheduled for delivery.
Kavita said upon raising concerns, the individuals associated with the consignment fled the scene, abandoning a motorbike.

"We are dealing with a complex criminal network that is not only trafficking illegal drugs but also misusing government attire to further their activities. The public must remain vigilant, and we will continue to crack down on such operations," said Kavita.
The commissioner warned residents against being lured into illegal activities, stating that anyone found involved in such dealings would face the full force of the law.
