Shabana FC is at a critical juncture in the FKF Premier League.

After an arduous journey back to the top flight, following a 17-year hiatus, the Gusii-based club is struggling to find its footing.

Their performance in the opening 14 matches has been underwhelming, with only two wins and seven losses. This shaky start has placed them precariously in the relegation zone, raising concerns about their ability to compete at this level.

As the season progresses, Shabana's challenges continue. In their last eight matches, their form hasn't improved significantly, with five losses, two draws, and just a single victory.

This weekend presents another test for the club as they face Sofapaka, a team currently riding a wave of confidence.

Sofapaka has been unbeaten in their last three matches, including impressive victories over Kariobangi Sharks (2-1) and Nzoia Sugar (3-1).

Today's match at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County is more than just a game for Shabana; it's an opportunity to reverse their fortunes.

But the biggest question is, can Tore Bobe really turn around their poor run against Batoto Ba Mungu?

Meanwhile, in another eagerly anticipated fixture, Gor Mahia seek to bounce back to winning ways against FC Talanta tomorrow.

Gor Mahia, who currently leading the table with 28 points, narrowly missed extending their lead last week after a 2-2 draw with Nzoia Sugar. This result has allowed Kakamega Homeboyz, trailing by just one point, to close in on the top spot.

Gor Mahia's dominance over Talanta in their six previous encounters, where they emerged victorious each time, provides a glimmer of hope for the team to regain their momentum.

“We started the match against Nzoia very slow but the fighting spirit in the team is amazing. We want to play better against Talanta. Taking it a game at a time, we also want to maintain our unbeaten streak as we work towards the bigger goal of retaining the league,” said Gor captain Philemon Otieno.
