A fundraising has been organised tonight to raise funds for 1.5 million hungry people in Ukambani.
The event, Ukai tukomane, Kwithuia Mukamba (let’s hold together for the Kamba) has been organised by Mutui Museo (good neighbour) comprising professionals from Ukambani, Safaricom, Panda Promotions, Kenya Red Cross at the Carnivore Restaurant, Nairobi.
Mutui Museu Chairman Isaac Kalua said yesterday: "Besides raising cash and collecting food, we want to strategise on long-term measures to alleviate poverty in the region."
Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka is expected at the function.
"We’ll strategise on better farming skills, storage, building dams, drilling boreholes and saving water catchment areas," said Mr Kalua.
The leaders will be joined by artistes such as Ken Wa Maria and Yatta Orchestre, Bosco Mulwa, Peter Mwambi and Kyanganga Boys, Joseph Mutaiti and Super Kaiti Boys. Others to perform at the function are Martin Mulwa and Manyanja Boys, Maingi Musili and Masinga Boys, Peris Mueni and Kakongo Sisters.
