Two officers allegedly among those arrested transporting bhang in Kisii

Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kasses says they are investigating the involvement of police in the transportation of 588 kilograms of bhang nabbed in the area today morning.

Kasses says they are yet to get factual information on the said police officers.

The County Commander said the street value for the said consignment had not been confirmed.

Kasses said one of the vehicles was carrying 189 kilograms but broke down in Moticho Ward South Mugirango before the occupants called for rescue.

Another vehicle in the convoy was loaded with 399 kilograms of bhang. A third vehicle, a Double Cabin was used in the towing of the car that had developed mechanical problems.

"Our officers were able to move in swiftly and managed to arrest four individuals. Nobody will be spared in the war against substance abuse. The law has to be followed."

He said police had in the last two months impounded three vehicles transporting illegal drug substances.

"We suspect the same is being transported from neighboring Counties. We are ready to fight this illegal business. We cannot win these cases alone; support has to come from all quarters."

A source has since told The Standard the two firearms, a Jericho Pistol and an AK 47 with Kenya Police Registration Numbers were also recovered.
