The national champions KCB Volleyball team secured their spot in the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League semi-finals with a commanding 3-1 victory over Kenya Army in the return leg match at Nyayo Indoor Arena.
The Lionesses started strong, clinching the first two sets with scores of 25-17 and 25-16. Despite a setback in the third set, which the Soldiers won 25-20, KCB rallied in the fourth set to seal their victory at 25-22.
This win follows their earlier triumph in the first leg at Kasarani Stadium, where KCB swept Kenya Army 3-0 with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-18. The aggregate victory sends the team to the semi-finals, where they will face DCI in a two-leg match series on Friday and Saturday.
KCB assistant coach David Kinga praised the team's performance, saying, "We have completed the first assignment and now set our sights on the next challenge against DCI in the semi-finals this weekend. I appreciate the ladies for their excellent performance in the quarters, and we aim to maintain this momentum as we strive to retain the title."
Leading the charge for KCB are Mariam Musa, Deborah Jesang, and Juliana Namutira in the attack, with Edith Wisa and Belindah Barasa anchoring the block. Liberos Linsey Jeruto and Josephine Nekesa provided exceptional defensive coverage, contributing significantly to the team's success.
“We have found a strong footing within the team, seamlessly rotating and supporting each other, which has greatly impacted our performance in the league,” added Kinga.
