Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama remains confident that the north London club will end their poor start to the season.
Spurs have endured a tough season opening with only three wins in their last eight Premier League matches.
The Kenyan captain who has been struggling to break into Spurs’ squad this season will be hoping to fight back for his position this weekend against Watford.
However, Wanyama told Goal he was determined to regain his position at the club.
“I don’t think it is difficult to win my position back, I just need to push myself even harder and keep working hard in training to achieve the same and I know it will happen soon.”
The Kenyan skipper also hopes to make a mark on his return to action, having started only two premier league and coming on as a substitute twice.
The 28-year-old Kenya international faces a tough opposition in the midfield from likes of Ndombele, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Oliver Skipp and Eric Dier, who are more preferred by Mauricio Pochettino.
Wanyama was however at the begging of the season linked with a move to join Belgian side Club Brugge who were willing to pay £8m for his signature.
“Of course I was unsettled with the transfer news because it was coming in the news every day,” Wanyama told Goal before the Mozambique game.
“What happened in the transfer window is passed me now and my main focus is to train as hard as I can to make sure I regain my position in the team.
With two years left on his current deal, Wanyama looks to back his North London club to turn around their poor start to the season.
The Spurts midfielder started his professional career with Belgian side Germinal Beerschot AC in 2009 before moving on to Scotland giants Celtic for two years before joining Southampton on 11 July 2013 for £11.5m.
He then joined Spurs from Southampton in the summer of 2016 but his career has been marred by bursts of nagging injuries, which have also kept the midfielder out of action in crucial parts of the season.
