Coast schools pick teams for regional games

Over the years, schools that invest in games, hardly lack in winners’ medals.

This was evident during the Kwale and Mombasa counties secondary schools Term One games where teams fought for Coast Region games set for next week in Mombasa.

Kaya Tiwi School and Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa were among teams that reaped from sports investment as they called shots during the championships.

National girls’ basketball champions Kaya Tiwi School retained the Kwale County title in style.

They won all their matches with an unbeaten record during the games at Matuga Girls High School.

Interestingly Kaya Tiwi never scored less than 100 points in their respective matches.

In the final, Kaya Tiwi had little respect to Vigurungani whom they hit 160-2 in the one-sided affair.

“We are happy we won all our matches with an unbeaten record and this is a good sign of better things to come as we prepare for the Coast region and national games,” said Kaya Tiwi School captain Yvonne Atieno.

In boys’ basketball, Shimba Hills bounced back to beat Kwale High School 66-29 in the final. En route to the final, Shimba Hills beat Kinango 55-15 while Kwale High stopped Mazeras 38-33.

Shimba Hills added more trophies after they won rugby Sevens and both boys’ and girls’ handball titles.

Kinango School beat Mazeras 3-1 in boys’ hockey final while Matuga Girls drew 1-1 with Macmillan.

In Taita Taveta County, Kenyatta Mwatate emerged victorious in boys’ hockey.
