Kabras Sugar kicked off their title defense on the front foot despite the match being abandoned due to heavy rains after hammering Impala Saracens 33-6 at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday.

Patrick Lumumba picked up from where he left last season after an early five-minute try gave Kabras a 7-0 lead after Eric Cantona added the extras.

Impala responded with a penalty through Patrick Musoli that cut the gap to 7-3 before Gabriel Adero scored the hosts second try that was converted by Cantona for 14-3.

Another penalty by Impala cut the lead to 14-6 but Collins Indeche responded in style to push the scores to 21-6 as Cantona maintained 100 percent kicking.

Hillary Solano bagged the bonus point try before half time as Kabras led 26-6. The final half saw Adero complete his brace as Kabras led 33-6.

Due to heavy rains, the match ended with almost 20 minutes left.

Other results saw Menengai Oilers thrash Kisumu RFC 78-13 and Kenya Harlequin hammer Mwamba 50-22. Nondies saw off Strathmore Leos 22-16 while Blak Blad defeated Nakuru 27-5.
