Several bars in Kangemi closed in war on illicit brew

Over 8 bars have been closed in Kangemi as the Nairobi County Government intensifies war against illicit brew.

The eight according to operation officers do not conform with the standard requirements as per the Nairobi county alcoholic drinks control Act.

The crackdown comes following an inter-governmental meeting between the Nairobi County reinforcement officers and the Multi-Agency team under the leadership of Assistant County Commissioner Mr Benjamin Anyona and Spring Valley OCS Mr Peter Tinega.

Also present were liquor licensing Chairperson Esther Mwaria, Kitisuru youth leader and a sub-county liquor member Shawn Francis.

The crackdown that was conducted in Kangemi with areas of Seniors driving school and Kaptagat saw several liters of illicit brews nabbed.

The teams said they will work together to make sure Interior CS Kithure Kindiki's directives to eradicate illicit brew and drug dens are fully implemented.
