Canobbio to zoom off first at Bamba rally

Home driver Piero Canobbio will be the first off the ramp at the KNRC7 MMC Bamba Rally which, zooms off today in Bamba, Kilifi County.

Canobbio will pilot his new Hyundai NG Rally2 for the first time on the Mombasa Motor Club (MMC) KNRC leg accompanied by Riyaz Ismail.

Canobbio's i20 N Rally2 car is the successor to its i20 R5 currently running in national and continental championships across the globe, as well as World Rally Championship's third tier championship -WRC3.

Another Rally 2, a Skoda Fabia, is in the hands of Raaji Bharij for the Minti Motorsport squad. Bharij will take off in second position.

Series leader Karan Patel and Jasmeet Singh Chana are seeded third and fourth ahead of Evans Kavisi, Issa Amwari and Steve Mwangi.

Patel who currently tops the KNRC log with 167pomits, Jasmeet Chana -placed second with 161 points- Issa Amwari, Nikhil Sachania and Evans Kavisi have all confirmed their Evolution X cars, while trailblazing lady driver Maxine Wahome has entered a Subaru Impreza Group N car.

Other entries have come from Two Wheel Drive leaders Leonardo Varese/Kigondu Kareithi who will pilot a Toyota Auris 2WD and Kush Patel/Mudasar Chaudhry.

Maxine Wahome is among the drivers enlisted for the Kenya Breweries Limited sponsored event and will be navigated by Murage Waigwa in a Subaru Impreza Group N car which she has been running in her spirited Kenya National Rally Championship campaign.

Maxine is among the five Kenyan drivers currently competing in the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) series where she is running her campaign behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta Rally3.
