Supermodel Naomi Campbell has opened up about her experience of motherhood as a single mum, revealing in a recent interview with The Sunday Times that both her children were born via surrogacy.

The 54-year-old icon, known for her decades-long career in fashion, has largely kept details about her daughter, born in 2021, and son, born in 2023, private.

However, she did confirm the use of a surrogate with a simple "I did" during the interview.

Campbell spoke candidly about the impact motherhood has had on her. "My babies are everything to me," she said. "It's made me fear for the future."

This newfound concern for the world they will inherit has become a driving force for her.

"I hope for a better world for my children," she continued. "They are 110 per cent my priority. I have to be there for them on their first day at school."

Despite entering the modelling world at a young age herself, Campbell expressed reservations about her children following a similar path.

"I'm not sure I would let her start working at 15," she admitted. "It's a ruthless world."

Campbell, who has embraced motherhood as a single parent, offered encouraging words to young women who might hesitate about becoming mothers themselves.

"I have said, 'You will change your mind. You will want to be a mum,'" she shared. She acknowledged the economic challenges, but added, "I understand [that] economically it is tough. But my mum had nothing and she made it work. It's worth it. It is so amazing."

Campbell's journey to motherhood wasn't always public knowledge. In a 2022 interview with British Vogue, she hinted at her desires, stating, "I always knew that one day I would be a mother."

She went on to describe motherhood as "the biggest joy I could ever imagine" and "the best thing I've ever done."
