Jadon Sancho's Man United transfer could hinge on Paul Pogba decision

Jadon Sancho's prospective transfer to Man Utd could hinge solely on whether Paul Pogba stays at the club.

Despite being welcomed back into an improved side following his injury, United are still in the dark over whether Pogba sees his future at Old Trafford.

The midfielder has hinted at a move elsewhere previously with Real Madrid and Juventus both interested in signing him.

United consider the Frenchman a key part of their plans going forward and have even put a move for Aston Villa's Jack Grealish on ice.

The Mail report that United's pursuit of Sancho is also unlikely to be resolved this summer unless Pogba leaves the club.

The Borussia Dortmund winger is valued in excess of £100million by his club - a figure United are not prepared to meet in the current climate.

Only the sale of a major player would give them the necessary funds to make an offer for Sancho, which is where Pogba fits into the strategy.

United are expecting the 27-year-old to remain at the club for the duration of his contract over the next two years, and are hopeful he will commit to an extension.

However they are acutely aware that they could be left in a compromising position next summer if Pogba is seeking pastures new as he enters his final year.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane wants Pogba to bolster his midfield though has been put off by United's demands of £150m.

If Pogba does push for the exit this summer though United may be forced to consider whether to cash-in on their prized asset and use the money to invest in their priority targets.

Dortmund are open to the sale of Sancho providing United meet their demands, while Grealish would be a direct replacement for Pogba if he flies the nest.

Much could also depend on if United can seal Champions League qualification next season, either by getting a result in Sunday's season finale against Leicester or by winning the Europa League.
