Defending champions Gor Mahia announced their arrival back from continental football disappointment in style after thumping Mathare United 4-0 in their opening FKF Premier League match played at Machakos Stadium on Saturday.

The record Kenyan champions were reduced to whipping boys in the CAF Champions League preliminary round after losing 6-0 to Egyptian giants Al Ahly and have since exited the competition.

Out for blood after the humiliating exit, K’Ogalo were the dominant side against Mathare and would find the back of the net in either half to bag three points.

Reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Austin Odhiambo gave Gor a 1-0 half time lead after scoring in the 45th minute before an own goal stretched the champions lead to 2-0 five minutes after the restart.

Geoffrey Ochieng made it 3-0 in the 76th minute before Gedeon Bendeka put the final nail on Mathare’s coffin with a late goal as Gor won 4-0.

Meanwhile, Bandari on moved joint top of the FKF Premier League table after narrowly seeing off Sofapaka 1-0 in their third match of the 2024-2025 campaign played at Machakos Stadium.

Beja Nyamawi scored the lone goal of the match at the stroke of half time as the visitors claimed their second win of the season albeit stretching their unbeaten run to three matches.

Victory lifted the Dockers joint top alongside KCB and Kariobangi Sharks all with seven points.

At Utalii Grounds in Nairobi, FC Talanta rallied from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw against Bidco United with a last-minute goal.

Anthony Akhulia's Bidco side, seeking their first win of the season after two draws and a loss, took the lead in the 76th minute through Peter Nzuki.

However, despite Bidco's hopes for their maiden victory, Talanta, under the guidance of Jackline Juma, equalized deep into stoppage time to earn a share of the points.

Meanwhile, the match pitting Shabana and Posta Rangers was not played after referees disappeared.
