Dola Super Cup: Grand pay day as flawless Kilifi set to battle in the lucrative Sh1 Million finals

Excitement is in the air ahead of Dola Super Cup football showdown finals slated for Mombasa Sports Club on Sunday afternoon.

The winners will walk home Sh 1 Million richer while Top Scorer and Most Valuable Player will make away with Sh50,000 each as best spectators showered with Sh 100,000 bounty.

Set to battle in the lucrative finals are Kilifi County who edged Kwale 'B' 1-0 in a tense semifinal duel that left spectators on the edge of their seats.

The solitary goal was scored by Faiswal Dzuya in the fifth minute. On their way to the finals, Kilifi drew 1-1 with Taita Taveta before slicing Mombasa 'A' 1-0 in the Group A preliminaries.

Kilifi will contest the finals against winners between Mombasa 'A' and Mombasa 'B' whose crunch semi final clash was set for the venue last evening.

"We have massive support  from our fans here, this has helped us not to lose any match so far, it is a great motivation and a clear indication of good things a head.We hope to walk home with the ultimate grand prize," Kilifi team captain Michael Haro stated.

Mombasa 'A' captain Hassan Mtengo was optimistic that his side would triumph against Mombasa 'B' last evening so they could get another chance to exact revenge on Kilifi in the finals.
"We lost to Kilifi in the preliminaries due to a small concentration lapse, but now we are rejuvenated, we are high in spirits, our mission is to pay that small debt so they (Kilifi) don't return home with unnecessary bragging rights," Mtengo underlined.

At the same time, Stanley Mwaura of Taita Taveta County is holding his breath in the race to the Golden Boot Award on seven goals. He is followed closely by Bahetham Titi of Lamu and Salmon Otieno of Mombasa 'B' who are tied  on six goals apiece.

While hailing the tournament, Mombasa County Football Association Chairman Juma Goshi explained that the competition, meant to unearth talent at the coast, has realised four prolific players who have been linked up with top tier clubs ahead of the Kenyan Premier League that kicked-off on Saturday.
"The players have been identified by Ulinzi Stars FC, we expect others to join the National Super League sides, this shows how the tournament has opened up opportunities for coastal players," Goshi said.
